The Artist Behind Beautifica and Mesmerica.
James Hood is renowned as a vital and versatile musical pioneer - especially with his work on the PanART hang, a uniquely mesmeric melodic instrument, and for his collaborations with international animation artists.
His lengthy musical resumé includes playing drums in The Pretenders, an ongoing two-decades-plus run as mastermind of the visionary ambient/electronica act Moodswings, and an expansive array of production and soundtrack projects.

Bays Mountain Park and Planetarium
Bays Mountain Park & Planetarium, located in beautiful Kingsport, Tennessee is a 3,750 acre nature preserve and the largest city owned park in the state of Tennessee. Our mission is to preserve the natural and cultural resources of Bays Mountain while offering quality educational and recreational opportunities.
Enjoy the beauty of Bays Mountain's picturesque 44 acre reservoir aboard a pontoon boat while the secrets of local aquatic life are revealed. The park also features a wonderful collection of animals that are native to the area including wolves, bobcats, raptors and reptiles. Whether you're up for a relaxing stroll around the lake, a more adventurous trek up to the fire tower or a challenging ride on a single track trail, Bays Mountain has over 45 miles of beautiful hiking trails and 40 miles of mountain bike trails to provide fun and adventure for all skill levels.
Since 1971 the Bays Mountain Planetarium has served the East Tennessee region providing educational and entertaining programs on all topics in astronomy and spectacular laser light shows. The planetarium also has a long history of creating unique programs that have been shown in other theaters around the world.
With recent upgrades, Bays Mountain Planetarium continues to be a state-of-the-art facility for the region and the only one of its kind in the Western Hemisphere. Under our 40 ft. dome, enjoy incredible reproductions of the night sky created by our Zeiss ZKP4 star projector as it displays over 7000 individual fiber optic stars and two dozen deep-sky objects overhead. Our 6-channel Zeiss Velvet LED projectors fill the dome with bright and colorful imagery immersing you in a variety of environments. Complimenting the visuals is our excellent surround-sound system to complete the immersive experience.
